"These are my favourite shoes! What do you mean they're too damaged? This can't be fixed?"
It's the same statement I've heard time and time again.
Words of despair from another owner of an expensive pair of shoes. I'm filling in for the day at Gemmell's Footwear in Ellerslie and it's a steep learning curve. I'm grateful the cobbler is there to advise on a shoe-by-shoe basis.
Most damage can be fixed by Gemmell's expert shoe repairers... but the abrasive rasping action that occurs on the backs of your shoes while you are driving cannot. Fine and coarse road grit stays on the surface of your car mats, and cuts into the leather or fabric of your shoes - surfaces that cannot be brought back to life.
We all know just one scratch can ruin a perfectly good pair of shoes. And think about how many shoes may have suffered from this damage over the years. Did you even know your car was causing it?
This common, yet irreparable damage got me wondering... "How does Jan Gemmell keep her shoes looking so perfect?" Once I knew what was causing the damage I discovered her secret: a special rug fitted into her car. She'd had it there for years but it looked so sumptuous I'd just assumed it was only for decoration.
It turns out the luxurious pile allows grit to fall to the bottom while only the soft surface comes in contact with the shoes. This seemed simple yet very clever so I made a suggestion: sharing her secret with others.
The result? "Shoe Saviours" was invented to help prevent this unsightly wear for those of us who care about our shoes.
Jan has taken years to find the perfect solution to save her shoes and when creating this product we refined it even more. We found regular sheepskin rugs just didn't cut the mustard so we had to have them specially treated. Also to ensure they don't slip underfoot special precautions had to be taken.
Rest assured that Shoe Saviours are a well tested product to ensure the safety of your shoes and yourself while driving.
It's also completely machine washable although you'll be surprised how little washing it actually needs. Part of the genius is how clean it naturally stays with dirt sliding off the fibres and resting out of sight at the bottom. So the best way to clean then is just to give them a shake once in a while.
If you're anything like me you've spent a decent amount on your shoes over the years. Now think back to all those pairs of shoes you had to stop wearing because they were unsightly damaged. Not to mention how many times this has happened to your favourite shoes at the time.
Well now there's a way to protect your shoes and make sure they last a lot longer than before. It's pretty simple... you save money by getting more mileage out of your shoes. And you also reduce the pain and anguish of throwing away yet another pair of perfectly good shoes thanks to a copy of scuff marks.
Shoes Saviours; because you want to put your best foot forward every time.
